One of our missions at Discover Date Night is to celebrate local businesses, and, as you know, there is no shortage of awesomeness in the Lehigh Valley! So, check back each Thursday for our humble suggestions.
Oh, and by the way...these are not affiliate links or paid ads. We don't get any money for getting you to click or check out any of these local spots. We just genuinely love them, and we think you will, too!
If you'd like to add a destination for the consideration of other Date Nighters, please feel free to do so in the comments below!

One night, my husband and I were strolling around Southside Bethlehem after dinner looking for something to do next. We stumbled into this quaint little brick building and were immediately greeted with a, "Hey, guys! You up for some brews?" And, why yes, yes we were!
We were immediately impressed by the bartender who treated us like we were regulars on our first visit. He was so familiar, that at one point, we actually started to wonder if we knew him from somewhere. It felt like we were hanging with an old friend.
We also really appreciated that in addition to telling us all about the house craft beers, the bartended was really enthusiastic about beers that they carried from other local breweries. We love to support businesses who celebrate other local establishments.
We told him our likes and dislikes in beer, and he used what we said to pour us an amazing beer to our taste. It was so fun to try something new at the suggestion of a true craft beer sommelier. It was such an unexpectedly wonderful way to end our date night.
So, if you're looking for friendly, knowledgeable service, awesome brews, and a cozy atmosphere, may I suggest Bonn Place Brewing Company?
Seriously, I loved it so much, I even bought a t-shirt.

Hope and I didn't set out to both pick a bar in downtown Bethlehem for our first picks, but it's easy to see how this could happen. Bethlehem is one of the best places in the Lehigh Valley to find wonderful restaurants and unique things to do. Just walking around and popping into the novelty stores is a great way to spend an afternoon. Many of my suggestions in the upcoming weeks will, no doubt, be located in Bethlehem. I love that town!
For my first pick, may I suggest McCarthy's Red Stag Pub and Whiskey Bar: Irish Pub . Drinking a Guinness in muggy pub in Ireland is personal bucket list item, but I consider eating Sunday Brunch while enjoying authentic live music at McCarthy's Red Stag the next best thing.
If I had to pick my favorite restaurant in the Lehigh Valley, this might just be it. But, that would be like admitting which kid is really my favorite, so I'll stop just short of that title.
This is the pub I take my dad to enjoy whisky and live music when we get a rare night out together, and it is the place where my friends threw my surprise baby shower, because they knew I'd show up for brunch if we were meeting at McCarthy's Red Stag.
I mean, come on. What's not to love. The food is just so damn good. Seriously, I just looked at the menu to try and name my favorite dish for this post, and I can't pick just one thing. We love the Jameson marinated wings, the smothered potatoes with like 20 possible toppings, bangers and mash, fish and chips, and cottage pie. They whisky menu is expansive, the atmosphere is nostalgic, and the live music really does transport you to another time and place. It is a whole night out in and of itself. I am hoping we host lots of Date Nights at this awesome little pub someday.
Also, I am happy to report, it looks like they are offering classes again! So if you want to plan a unique date night of your own, check out one of their cooking, baking, or wine tasting classes.
Maybe I'll see you there!
